The hubby and I on our honeymoon hike in Red Rock Canyon.
Welcome to my blog.
I’m a happily married nerd girl who got married in Vegas (no, not by Elvis). We live in our little geek paradise with three fluffy kittens. I can kick as much butt playing the latest JRPG as I do conquering a half marathon. I like a cold beer on a hot day and a nice hot shower after a grueling run. I’ve recently discovered a love for gin and a love of food trucks.
Life is pretty damn good.
Blogkitten is all about me (and my life), and not about kittens (except when it is about my kittens).

Hi,
I wanted to tell you a little story.
I’ve been “into” computers ever since i was little. my dad is an IT teacher, and I’ve grown up around them. I would go to my friends houses to play NES, Megadrive, SNES, Saturn and playstation games, and I’d play pc demos from magazine discs, but we could never afford for me to have my own console, nor could i afford to buy real computer games.
When i was 13 the N64 was due to be release in the UK in March,. i worked every morning and night delivering 300papers for 4 months beforehand, for about £10 a week (about $20), saving it all up.
By the week before release, I had £160, nowhere near the amount i needed for the console (which was priced at £250, and was reduced to £150 a month later!).
I was really dissapointed when i found out that I didnt have enough. One evening i returned home from school, went upstairs to my room and there, on the bed, was a Nintendo 64! My parents had seen the effort I’d put into getting it, and got me one anyway!
From then i was hooked. I loved the N64, would play it with my friends every school lunchtime, and it was brilliant. the best year ever.
At the end of that year I became serious clinically depressed, which has persevered for the 10 years since. The playstation, xbox, playstation2,gamecube all passed me by, as i no longer saw the point in anything, let alone playing games.
I have made pretty big improvements in the last few years; going to college, finding a career, and this last month I have actually started to play video games again, and whilst I’m not out of thewoods, and never will be, My interest in the gaming world has renewed.
The reason I have told you this is because it happend at the same time i discovered the widget podcast. unlike som many other podcast, the informal, friend-shooting-sh*t style reminded me so much of that year before the bad itmes started.
I was so, so sad when the last Widget show was broadcast, especially the reasons for it ending. As pathetic as it might sound. You folks had become like friends, people who shared the same interests as me.
I wanted to thankyou, and I hope you can pass this email along to the other folks who were involved.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Hi carolyn,
I was wondering if you could give me some advice?
I have a website that i set up from a template, but i want to learn how to make a better website.
Do you know of any good books I could get?
To clarify, I know very little about html, so it would have to be a “from the ground up” kind of book, but also something thats not gonna bore me to death. Im thinking a “…for dummies” kind of thing!
