I hate the “fall back” of Daylight Saving Time. Yes, you get an “extra” hour, but you also get darkness at 4:30pm in the afternoon. I could give a crap if it’s dark in the morning. It’s dark now, and I’m OK with that. But darkness in the late afternoon? Hate! It’s bad enough getting dark by 6pm now! So I have a feeling I’m going to be a crab next week.

Now that the weather is definitely turning to late-fall, early-winter temperatures, I’m going back to the treadmill. Yes, I know one can run outside all year around with the right equipment and clothing, but I can’t stand the darkness when I’m running. A co-worker was running in the early morning and stepped on a rock and now she’s laid up with an Achilles tendon injury and an ACL injury. She might be able to start running again by Spring, depending on how the surgery goes. Also, it’s not particularly safe to run in the dark either. So, the treadmill it is!
I have such a hard time going back to the treadmill. Earlier this week, I did 3 miles and I was SO. DAMN. BORED. I never got bored once on any of my 10+ mile runs, yet I can’t take 3 on a treadmill? I think it’s because I’m not being mentally distracted by the changes of scenery and I’m not being forced to keep a continuous pace. Plus, having the time and distance right in front of me just makes me think “why am I not DONE YET?!”
I think I’ll bring a towel to cover up the panel next time.

PREACH IT. I was all ‘oh yay’ about DST (which sounds like a pesticide or a social disease, btw) this morning, and this will be the last time I think that. Mmhm.

The treadmill is tough, agreed. I’ve got a few new workout/running playlists on my iPod to try to keep me interested.
