This is so true. Let’s say some guy came up to me after a gig and wanted me to teach him how to play the guitar. I’d start off with the E, A and D chords, both in open formations and bar formations. Once he had those down, I’d teach him the pentatonic scale in A and E. From there, he’d be able to play a boatload of songs with minimal knowledge! Since he’d know a scale, he’d be a leap ahead of The Ramones!
