John Cleese is one of my favorite comedic actors, and while he makes some damn good points - I still believe that Michael Palin IS the funnier Palin.
I’m not going to rest easy until November 5th. I suppose only if the result of the election turns out the way I want it to will I finally rest easy. If not…who knows?
I don’t think I’m going to watch the debate tonight. The other two weren’t debates, per se, but 2 minute stump speeches. I’ll change my mind later, I suppose.
In other news, it seems that the government is now buying out stakes in major banks to the tune of $250 billion dollars. So now this “bailout” tab is creeping very close to a trillion dollars. A trillion! But I’m in favor of this new plan.
Go listen to this episode of This American Life for a recent in-depth episode on the financial crisis. They explain why this plan of buying stakes in these companies will allow for better oversight than just throwing money at bad debts (which have no value) and will produce a better result for the American taxpayer in the long run.
Also - I’ve added NPR’s Planet Money daily podcast to my listening roundup. It’s quite informative and should be a listen for anyone wanting to keep up to speed on this financial crisis.
