We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Badges.

May 30th, 2008. Published under General. No Comments.

We lost a great in comedy today - Harvey Korman died from complications after suffering a rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm four months ago. A scene from one of my favorite movies - Blazing Saddles:

Hedley Lamarr

If I wasn’t already busy tonight [see below], I’d be watching Blazing Saddles for sure. But Saturday is another story.

Tonight we’re doing another production of Tech Snark LIVE on UStream.tv. We did this last time when we recorded Episode 44 (very last minute) and had a blast. You can watch the live stream here at 9:30pm Central tonight (5/30/08).

We do not archive or send the video out in our feed, so if you miss it, you miss out!

My friend Jennifer and I will be riding in the 2008 Breast Cancer Ride which will benefit Open Arms of Minnesota. I would love it if you could pledge to support my ride!

Here’s my sponsorship page - and any amount you give is tax deductible.

Also, Jen and I will be camping and videotaping it. Comedy gold.

Why I’m Driving The Bus To Hell: Reasons #345 and #346

May 8th, 2008. Published under General. 1 Comment.

#345 - For this video and my laughing at its mocking music while she struggles with the gas station coffee machine: Hillary vs. Coffee Machine

#346 - For finding this scenario titled “Hillary Clinton: The Psycho Ex-Girlfriend of the Democratic Party” way too funny. [found via Wil Wheaton]

Queue starts to the left. I’ll be collecting tickets shortly.

A Horoscope To Follow

May 8th, 2008. Published under General. No Comments.

This is my horoscope for today:

You are moody today and your irrational feelings can get in your own way. But fate lurks in the shadows and can spring upon the right moment to suddenly change everything. Don’t worry, though; this can work out to your advantage if you roll with the waves and stop thinking that you are in control.

Yeah - methinks I should keep my mouth to myself today because I really want to share loads of things with loads of people. Not the best idea.

Hope your day is better than mine!

This week sucks.

May 7th, 2008. Published under General. 4 Comments.

So far this week has been bad - very bad.

1. The Tech Snark site was infiltrated by an invasive spamming worm (where porn/spam links were inserted into posts that showed up on the feeds, but hidden on the site and I could not edit/delete them) that not only prevented me from making new posts, I couldn’t edit old posts. We were using version 2.3.3 at the time. If you haven’t upgraded to 2.5.1 - DO IT NOW. We had to backup, then completely obliterate the WordPress install to get it working again. Then we had to re-upload 2GB of show files and we’re still not done fixing it.

Seriously - upgrade NOW.

2. Chester hasn’t been eating much these past few weeks. The past two days, he’s barely eaten anything. Tim’s taking him into the vet this morning to see if there’s anything we can do so he does eat - or if he’s just dying. My poor little muffin.

Chester man!

I’m trying not to cry about it - but it’s really hard not to.

3. As mentioned earlier - I can’t do the bike ride. The thing is - I really want to do both. I’ve been dying (not as much as Tim has)…DYING…to see the Star Wars exhibit ever since they announced it last summer. On the other hand, the do-gooder in me wants to do the bike ride because it’s for a good cause and Jen and I would have a blast. Yes, I could just buy tickets to Star Wars for another day - but dammit, we made plans for an entire day in St. Paul, not just the exhibit, and there are no exchanges or refunds. With the bike ride, I know I wouldn’t be able to raise the MINIMUM of $750 fundraising because I suck at fundraising. Big time.

Grar.

4. I have to work until 7pm tonight for an event. Which meant I had to drive into work today. You all know how much I love driving in rush-hour traffic.

5. I forgot to take this Saturday off from Ye Olde Part Tyme Jobbe to drive down to my parent’s house to go fishing in the morning. I hope they’ll be OK with afternoon fishing. We’ll also miss the barbeque on Sunday for Mother’s Day because we didn’t find anyone to take care of the kitties for 2 days.

I need a vacation, a massage and a stiff drink. Too bad it’s only morning.

Frack.

I can’t do the Breast Cancer Ride - I bought tickets to the Star Wars exhibit weeks and weeks ago (well before I knew about this ride) for that same Saturday, June 21.

No refunds.

No exchanges.

I can’t even send Tim to go to it with a friend because I have to be the one to pick up the tickets that morning since I’m the one that bought them.

Frack.

I really wanted to do this too. :-(

Cinco de Mayo!

May 5th, 2008. Published under General. 1 Comment.

Yes - it’s Cinco de Mayo today and I’m celebrating by cleaning my desk off.

As a group, we came in on Saturday to clean (because my co-workers are lax to throw anything away) and we got a LOT done. The only downside of the cleaning is that I inherited a lot of stuff that needs to be closed, etc. So, it made my life a bit more hectic for this week, but I’ll manage - I always do.

* * * * *

Got to play Rock Band Saturday night at our Cinco de Mayo party - and apparently I’m a good singer (according to the game, that is). I consistently got 100% on the vocals on the times we did Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive”. I just hope I didn’t sound terrible - nobody said anything. But then, would you say anything if someone sucked at singing? Probably not. We took a bunch of video for the Tech Snark Cinco de Mayo special video edition - so I guess we’ll see if my drunken warbling was any good or not!

Big thanks to Sarah for making the best Margaritas I’ve had in a long time!! :)

Definitely need to have another party (and convince Tara and Jim to attend and bring over Rock Band) soon!

* * * * *

Speaking of Tara - she’s being a doll and paying my entry fee to the 2008 Breast Cancer Ride (since we’re a bit strapped financially currently - that’s what was keeping me from participating) so now Jennifer and I will be pedaling across MN June 21-22. I’m looking forward to it! I need to connect with the bikers at Fitness 19 and get on their Tues/Thurs/Sunday ride schedule.

I just need to take a refresher course on how to change a flat. I already have the tent and can easily get sleeping bags/pads.

Should be fun!

Comcast, in their idiocy, picked yesterday to do something to the internet. As of 1:30pm yesterday, we had no internet at the house. This makes it difficult to do a podcast over Skype (or upload any podcasts for that matter). Thanks assholes!

Reason #9,765,324 why I love Jon Stewart

May 1st, 2008. Published under General. 2 Comments.

Because he’s going to be in St. Paul on September 2nd doing a live taping of The Daily Show during the Republican National Convention.

And I have tickets. OH YEAH!!
