DO NOT WANT.

I really do not in my life, ever want to experience the taste of “sports creme” or “perspiration”. Ugh.

Things I’m Thankful For…

November 22nd, 2007. Published under General. 1 Comment.

I’m thankful that I live in a place where I have clean, running water.    Thankful for a roof over my head that I know isn’t in danger of being blown up by an bomb.  I’m thankful that I can walk outside and feel safe.  Thankful that if I’m hungry, I have food to eat.  Thankful that I have clothes to wear and shoes on my feet.  I’m thankful that my biggest concern for tomorrow is to vacuum, not whether or not I’ll live to see another day.  I’m thankful I’m healthy.  Thankful I have my parents, my brothers and sisters, my family, my friends and that I’m going through my life with the most amazing man.  I’m very thankful for that.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Oh Dear God.

Most of you  know I have a bit of an inner tree-hugger living inside this geeky girl exterior.  I’m all about turning the thermostat down a couple of degrees to save energy and I recycle.

Now, I’m not big into crafts, but I have friends out there that read this blog that are.  However, I’m just putting this out there to serve as notice to those crafty friends that there are just some things that I do not want.

Do-It-Yourself Menstrual Pads

Um.  Um…

So…just so we’re clear.  NEVER GIVE ME REUSABLE MENSTRUAL PADS…EVER EVER EVER.

Happy Wednesday!

Oof.

I’m still full from yesterday.  Ugh.

Where does the time go?

I haven’t posted much here lately. Pownce seems to be a quicker, more interactive way to post the miscellany that normally would’ve went here.

As far as the personal stuff goes, things are great. The writing gig is going well (amazing how much one can make by writing about stupid shit), Tech Snark is taking a 2-week holiday vacation over Thanksgiving too.  We’ll have a Brit (the UK type, not a Spears type) in our house for a week the week after Thanksgiving and much partying at Dave & Busters for the Pink Ninja Meetup (details at the link).

That doesn’t mean that you, my friends, can’t come to the party as well - hell, the more the merrier!!  Let me know if you want to come!!

Every holiday, for at least 15+ years, I was responsible for bringing the crudités. Every get-together, every family event, Carolyn brought the crudités.

Last week, my mom calls me to let me know when we’re getting together for Thanksgiving and that I would be bringing dessert and that my brother Ron (who normally brings dessert) is bringing the crudités.

*blinks*

What?! I always bring the crudités!! This throws my holiday into a tailspin! Everything’s going dark!

Ok…maybe I’m being overly dramatic. But this poses a problem: I never make desserts. Ever.

So, I asked friends “what should I make!??!” and started looking through cookbooks for recipes for desserts that I can’t fuck up. Perhaps I should just botch the desserts so I don’t have to do them again … but I suppose I’d never hear the end of it. I still get shit for something I cooked when I was 12*.

So we’ll see how it goes!

Hope you have a great holiday!

* - I made a pizza where it called for a 1/2 cup of chopped onion. I used a 1/2 cup of dried chopped onion. Never will hear the end of it. And don’t get me started about the whole deviled egg fiasco from when I was 13. Sheesh.

Fun with Cheese!

Fun with cheese

We took this for our friend Bree. We giggled about her being President and decreeing that a cheese be made in her honor. Also that fact that the package touts that it is “The Fresher Wedge” cracked us up really bad in the deli section of Cub Foods. People were looking at us funny.

Perhaps we were the only ones to find this amusing.

Not that I stay up that late, mind you.  But when things get busy for me, the first thing that gets put to the side is this blog…unless I give up sleep.  And you all know how much I like sleep.

My non-work time has been increasingly taken up by more and more things.  My Saturday mornings are used up at Ye Olde Part Tyme Jobbe (and I fear they may go to full days during the holidays), Tech Snark still records bi-weekly but more and more of my time is spent editing the fucking thing every Sunday (which is supposed to be my day off) and this week, I’ve started a writing gig for a gadget blog Coolest-Gadgets.  I’d been getting a lot of the Wacky Gadgets for Tech Snark from that site, and when the opportunity came up to write for them, I took it.   That’s a 6-day a week thing - luckily I only need to do 2 stories per day and I get paid to do it!  Even better!

Last night we picked up Guitar Hero III with the wireless controller and Tim and I rocked out on co-op career mode.  It was a lot of fun!

Tonight is Tech Snark recording.  Tomorrow, I’m sure we have something going on.  Have a friend from Nebraska coming through town on Sunday and will be meeting up with them.

Another busy weekend ahead.  Woot.

Hope you’re all doing well.

Also, watch the video on this site.  If you’ve ever done any design work for a client, you will pee your pants.
