Out of Touch

I love articles like this one: How to invest your next $1,000.
Apparently I’m supposed to be privy to some “windfall” of a thousand dollars and DEAR GOD WHAT WILL I DO WITH ALL THE MONEY?!
I think MSN must cater to rich Republicans or something. If I had an extra grand, I would do the following:
- Dance around in celebration because HOW IN THE HELL DID I GET SO LUCKY?
- Finally fix the hail damage on my car because I wasn’t able to cover my deductible before.
- Pay off the rest of my medical bills rather than paying them monthly.
- Finished!
Because that’s all I could really do with a grand: fix stuff and pay stuff off. Like I have the luxury of investing some random thousand dollars. They have another article with where you should invest with that $10,000 that’s just sitting in the pocket of your favorite jacket.
I have a good job that pays me enough to get by. I’m not living like a rock star and I’m not spending money like an idiot. What’s scary is when those unexpected things pop up (repairs, medical expenses, etc.) and you can’t afford to pay for those things without going further into debt.
So I’m sorry MSN, I would love for you to show me an article where I can find that extra $1,000 without working a second job. Oh wait…I already do that. Silly me.

Sorry I’m all angsty today. Been a long week. TGIF, baby.

I am pretty big on investing, but if I got a spare $1000, I probably would blow it on some new tech gear or something. Probably a new iTouch and classic. :D
