GROG NEED COFFEE!

I need to find a solution to the coffee problem here at work.

My old office had Starbucks coffee (for free!) and a plethora of flavored and unflavored coffee creamers (also free!). My one daily cup of coffee consisted of this wonderful Starbucks coffee with French Vanilla liquid coffee creamer.

Side Note: What you may not know about my coffee drinking habits:
1. Unless I brew it myself, I need coffee creamer.
2. I cannot stand powdered coffee creamer.
3. I cannot stand plain coffee creamer – needs to have a flavor.
4. Sweetener is optional, depending on how toxic the coffee is (see: Diner Coffee).

My current office has free coffee, but all they have is generic plain powdered coffee creamer.

*shudder*

I tried – really tried – to get my one cup of coffee out of the supplies they have here, with disastrous results! After two days of that, I just started going to Dunn Bros. to get a skim vanilla latte every morning. Considering the fact that the latte is $3-4, I refuse to spend $15-20 on coffee per day.

So my dilemma is: what do I do?

Do I get up even earlier and brew my own coffee at home, allowing me to drink it on the bus? Or do I go to the store and buy my own container of fat-free French vanilla liquid coffee creamer? Even better, go to Costco and get the “institutional size” box of single serving coffee creamers (like my old office had) so I don’t have to worry about refrigeration.

I may have to figure out the set-ahead timer of the coffee maker and set it up to brew automatically. That might be the ticket. Less calories too!

Speaking of such things, I haven’t been logging my runs on here lately. Mainly because I forget to write down the times every time I’m on the treadmill. I certainly haven’t been working out every day like I used to because of the part-time job and the fact I have a busier social life now.

Oh no! A social life!

I think I’m going to get an iPod Nano in the next few months, along with the Nike shoes that will automatically track my progress. Not sure how they work on a treadmill, but we’ll see.

Back to work!

  1. Don’t worry about getting specific shoes — you can Velcro the transmitter to the top of the shoe’s tongue and lace up over it, and it works fine.

Also? Works great on treadmills. I don’t think the surface is any sort of an issue.

  2. Well, I need to buy new running shoes too. Since I buy Nike shoes anyway, might as well get the NikeID specific ones.

  3. I don’t drink coffee. The closest I get to it is the occasional gas station french vanilla cappuccino that is so sweet that it alters any potential coffee taste there may have been.

However, I bought a coffee maker several weeks ago, for no other reason than it was red and looked cool with my other red appliances. As I have family coming to town for the holidays, I figured I should maybe buy some coffee and some filters, just in case (and by ‘just in case’, I mean just in case someone shows up with a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream). Anyway, I got some gourmet breakfast blend stuff (I know nothing about coffee) and for kicks, some fat free french vanilla creamer. Now, it calls to me to try it. Bailey is really itching to try it, too. So I think tomorrow will be the day we not only learn to use a coffee maker, but also the day we decide definitively that we hate coffee.
