The race for…one?

I’m really excited for the Tour de France to start this year – especially since there’s going to be great coverage without all the “OMG LANCE ARMSTRONG GOD-MAN OF TEH AWESOMES” hype.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of Lance and am in awe of his accomplishments. But you have to admit the coverage last year did get to be a bit much.

But this year, their new tagline is “The Men Who Would Be King” and they had a pretty good “pre-show” on Sunday going over the contenders. I’ll go out on a limb now and put up my predctions:

Truth in Advertising?

According to the packaging, the DayQuil LiquiCaps I’m taking are supposed to be effective in combating my cold symptoms (cough, nasal congestion, fever, minor aches, pains, headache, muscular aches, and sore throat pain) for 6 hours.

I took my first dose at 7:30am.

I am now sneezing my brains out* and blowing my nose like my life depended on it. It is exactly 11:33am.

That’s not 6 hours!! If I had known my scurvy** would reject the DayQuil after only 4 hours, I would have brought more than one more dose with me to work!

*sneezes*

*blows nose*

Ugh. Kill me now, please!

* – Don’t worry, I rinsed them off and put them back.
** – Every disease/flu/cold/ailment I get I call “scurvy”.

Teamwork? What's that?

I’m getting more and more frustrated with my new co-worker. She just doesn’t give a shit about getting things done, and done correctly. When I was at work for a half day on Tuesday, she complained about one of my people giving her ONE thing to do for them because they didn’t know if I’d be in (because I’m SICK). I even offered to do it for her and she refused and in the same breath complained about having to do it and how she’s stressed out and blah blah blah.

Not everything revolves around you.

Waiting to exhale…

…without a lungful of phlegm, that is.

I haven’t been sick for months – but I go to bed Sunday night with a tickle in my throat and woke up with my throat on fire and sore as hell. I called in sick and rested – by noonish, I was feeling a bit better and was going to go into work, but my supervisor just said to stay home.

Helplessly waiting.

When my parents were up last Friday/Saturday, Mom told me that she was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.

My mom! :-(

I know it’s not a death sentence or anything, but it’s hard to see the one person who you could count on for anything, was a pillar of strength and devotion to me at my lowest points and my greatest champion at my highest being sick. Outwardly, she looks fine and she’s in good spirits about it – but she’s sick. It’s making me face once again the fact that my parents are getting older and that someday they’re not going to be around. The first real time was when Dad was in the hospital with chest pains and had three stents put into the arteries of his heart in February 2004.

Amazing.

I actually had a good date for once!

He’s nice, cute and a lot of fun. Definitely want to see him again. :-)

Another day in paradise.

I’ve mellowed out a bit from earlier this week. I’m going to blame it on PMS.

I was going to run in a 5k on Saturday, but I’m thinking I’m going to just buckle down, rent that small extension ladder from Home Depot and paint the rest of my hallway and get all the trim done. Perhaps I’ll get the furniture painted that needs to be painted as well.

I want to find some cheap cube baskets to put in my 9-cube so it doesn’t look so horribly cluttered – but first things first. Painting. Painting. Painting!

In Hiding

I got a fan club ticket to the Pearl Jam show on the 26th! If I were feeling rich, I’d be able to get one for the 27th…but one ticket will be enough.

I’m so excited!!!

Have a birthday party to go to on Saturday at Gameworks for a friend I met through a gaming forum – she’s bringing all her single geeky friends for me to go over! If nothing else, I’ll get in some good gaming and make some new friends.
